Abandoned Baro Port raises concerns among reps

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives decided to establish an ad-hoc committee tasked with leading the efforts to rehabilitate and operationalize the Baro Inland Port in Niger State.

The resolution was a result of a motion that was jointly sponsored by 10 other individuals and former deputy speaker Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Plateau, APC).

In his motion, Wase voiced worries that Baro Port, which was inaugurated under President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, is still not operational because of inadequate access roads, no rail connections, and the lack of a suitable operational framework, even though physical infrastructure has been completed and basic equipment has been deployed.
