The Peoples Democratic Party was founded to govern, not to oppose, according to Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, or ADC.
Abdullahi claimed that after the PDP found itself in an odd position as an opposition party in 2015, everything started to go south.
While answering questions on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, he made this statement.
Nigeria was on the verge of becoming a one-party state when the ADC stepped in, and Abdullahi argued that Nigerians had everything to thank for the party’s intervention.
“The PDP was designed to govern, not to play the role of an opposition party,” he stated. As an opposition party, it thus found itself in an odd situation in 2015, and from there, things started to go south. This administration followed, and the PDP is still a possible contender for power.
Therefore, I’m not sure if this was a purposeful government policy or if some individuals chose to do it on their own to exploit or undermine the opposition party’s internal problems and ensure they no longer exist.
“Nigerians must congratulate ADC for entering the scene in the current situation, and I’m not saying this because I work for ADC. Why? We will eventually become a one-party state.
