Former Super Eagles captain Austin Eguavoen has come under fire from Olympic gold medalist Enefiok Udo-Obong, often known as “Enee,” for his recent comments regarding the government’s lack of proper assistance for former athletes.
Eguavoen had said those things over the weekend during his old comrade Peter Rufai’s funeral.
Recall that former international Taribo West also criticized the administration for not being in charge of the funeral planning. He added that he would not permit his son to play for the Nigerian national team.
“Enee” responded on Facebook, saying that Eguavoen was incorrect to draw a comparison between the roles of a soldier and a sportsman.
