The death of Oba John Omoloso Makanjuola Oyelusi III, the Elekusa of Ekusa, has been characterized by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as a significant loss for the state.
The late traditional ruler lived for his people and would be much missed, Adeleke stated in a condolence statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday in Osogbo.
The governor also sent condolences to the royal family, all of the residents of Ekusa town, and his immediate family, especially his son Prince Kunle Makanjuola, who is the Chairman of RATTAWU in Osun State.
He pointed out that the ancient town advanced during the reign of the late ruler.
“The news of HRM Oba John Omoloso Makanjuola (Oyelusi III), the Elekusa of Ekusa in Odo-Otin local government area of Osun state, passing away deeply touches me,” Governor Adeleke remarked.
Kabiyesi used his instrument to promote harmony and peace in his realm since he lived for his people. His demise has left a great void, especially for the majority of his subjects who are affected by his revolutionary leadership and for the many who depended on his wise counsel.
His immediate family, especially Prince Kunle Makanjuola, who is currently leading RATTAWU in the state, the royal family, the residents of Ekusa town, and anybody else affected by his passing, have my deepest sympathies.
According to information obtained by BASEMEDIA NEWS, Oba Oyelusi III died on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 83.
His son, Prince Adekunle Makanjuola, formally announced his passing on Monday.
We regret to inform you of the loss of Oba John Omoloso Mokanjuola Oyelusi III, our dear father and king. The whole Ekusa community will mourn him terribly, Makamnjuola said. He died away quietly.
The late Elekusa family disclosed that, in coordination with the Ekusa traditional council, funeral plans for the late king will be announced soon.
