African airlines see a 13.6% increase in passengers

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) published data for global passenger demand in April 2025, indicating that African airlines experienced a 13.6% increase in demand compared to the previous year.

There was an 8.9% increase in capacity compared to the previous year. The load factor reached 76.3%, which is an increase of 3.1 ppt from April 2024.

Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), was up 6.5% year-on-year. The April load factor was 83.6% (+1.1 ppt compared to April 2024).
