President Bola Tinubu, speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima, hailed the defection of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “symbol of progress and unity.”
Officially welcoming Diri to the APC, President Tinubu commended the Governor’s leadership style and commitment to development.
The President stated that the APC is the party for those who believe that progress is only possible through unity. He added:
“Governor Douye Diri, your story mirrors that of your people. Politics is about development, not noise or opposition.”
Tinubu expressed pride in Diri for making what he called “the right decision,” and applauded the Governor for promoting peace and unity through infrastructural growth in Bayelsa State. He characterized the defection as a “homecoming to the progressive family.”
