As of the end of April 2025, governments have blocked $1.3 billion in airline funds from being repatriated, according to a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) yesterday.
IATA states that this represents a considerable figure, even though it reflects a 25% enhancement in comparison to the $1.7 billion noted for October 2024
However, Nigeria is not on the list again having cleared over $700m airlines’ blocked funds as of last year, thereby exiting the debtors’ list.
