All 25 of Kwara State University’s undergraduate programs that were submitted during the October/November 2024 certification process have received new accreditation from the National Universities Commission.
Abraham Chundusu, the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, signed the accreditation findings, which were sent to Vice-Chancellor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh on April 30, 2025.
According to a statement sent to the media on Friday and signed by Saeedat Aliyu, Acting Director of University Relations, four of the programs were given interim accreditation, while 21 of the programs were given full accreditation.
Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, and Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution are among the programs that have received full accreditation.
“The others are computer science education, Arabic education, Islamic studies education, Christian religious studies education, French education, and special education.” The list of programs with full accreditation is completed by Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agriculture Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education.
The announcement also stated that temporary accreditation has been given to Yoruba, English, French, and mathematics education. The statement states that programs with interim accreditation are valid for two years, following which the NUC will re-evaluate them, and those with full accreditation are good for five years.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh responded to the findings by praising the university’s faculty for effectively submitting their re-accreditation programs.Jimoh called for increased dedication from everyone in order to take KWASU to even higher heights, saying that the administration would continue to support all academic, research, and community development efforts.
