Ally McCoist selects a candidate to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal total in the UCL

Ally McCoist, a former Scotland player, believes Erling Haaland of Manchester City will surpass Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Al Nassr, in the number of goals scored in the UEFA Champions League.

He believes that if the Norway international stays injury-free during his illustrious career, he can achieve great things.

Ronaldo has scored 140 goals in 183 Champions League games, while Haaland has scored 50 goals in 49 games thus far.

It’s insane that we are discussing Erling Haaland maybe surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record,” McCoist said on talkSPORT (via Tribal Football).

“I never would have imagined that Ronaldo’s record would ever be broken.

“But you have to admit, he could break that record and many others if he stays injury-free.”

Since joining Pepe Guardiola’s team in 2022 as a Premier League acquisition from Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has shown great promise.
