Traditional rulers in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area have been massacred by armed bandits under the leadership of Ado Allero, a prominent kingpin in the peace talks in the Northwest.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist Zagazola Makama revealed the incident in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
According to Makama, the development represents a startling increase in violence in the North West.
Citing intelligence reports, the security expert revealed that at approximately 1609 hours on September 15, a group led by Ado Allero massacred the Hakimi of Dogon Dawa, a traditional ruler, in Keta village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
He claimed that 40 civilians were abducted by the same group from a mosque in the LGA, calling the assault vicious and unprovoked.
According to Makama, sources also showed that the bandits have persisted in their terror campaign, murdering two customs officers in Fingilla village, Dandi Local Government Area, Kebbi State, and four farmers in Barikin Daji, Ruwan Gizo, Zamfara State.
According to Zagazola, despite the widely reported peace talks in Faskari, Katsina State, to put an end to banditry in the area, armed bandits in the North West have persisted in terrorizing local communities, killing, abducting, and disfiguring civilians.
“A convoy of the Commanding Officer of 382 Army Regiment was reportedly ambushed by bandits at Ruwan Godiya crossing point along Sheme-Kankara Road in Katsina during the peace agreement, but the attack was successfully repulsed.
On the same day, 17 Brigade troops captured a motorcycle and a cell phone after ambushing some bandits close to Gatawa village in Kankara LGA. Once more, soldiers stop a bandit attack in Sabon Massallaci village, Katera ward of Kankara LGA. The bandits then proceed to Gidan Dufe village in the same LGA, where they murder a woman, wound multiple people, and steal livestock, Makama stated.
The security expert added that on the same day, the bandits ambushed NSCDC officers along the Dafa village Yantumaki-Danmusa road, killing one officer and wounding four others.
Twelve people were attacked and kidnapped by the bandits in Godai village in Bukuyum, Zamfara state, in the same vein. In Tudun Moriki, they kidnapped four more people.
