With a few days until the commencement of the 2025/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, newly promoted Barau FC Kano is working desperately to acquire a home ground for its fixtures.

At the completion of the 2024/2025 season, the club which is formed and supported by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, achieved history by joining Kano Pillars in the NPFL—marking the first time Kano State will be parading two top-flight clubsAlthough it was used by Barau FC in the lower NLO and NNL levels, the Dambatta Stadium has not met NPFL standards. Unfortunately, there is controversy surrounding the club’s attempt to enter the sole practical option, the 18,000-seat Sani Abacha Stadium, which has long been Kano Pillars’ stronghold.According to Barau FC, the Kano State Commission is requesting an enormous N50 million before the team is permitted to utilize Sani Abacha Stadium as its new home field.
