National prayers have been organized by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in response to the annual death toll in Nollywood.
Following the deaths of two actors on a film set in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, the guild issued the call.
According to the DAILY POST, well-known director Stanley Ontop posted a video showing four actors being taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri, where two of them were later found dead.
According to reports, the unfortunate event happened after they drank the drink that the film producer had provided them.
However, in response to the event, AGN President Emeka Rollas called for national prayers with Pastor Jerry Eze in a post posted on his Instagram page.
Rollas claimed that the “devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on annual basis” in Nollywood, despite the fact that the victims are not AGN members.
Just one week after our member’s funeral service for the late Junior Pope, two young performers were involved in a tragedy in Owerri.
“Even though they are not AGN members, this suggests two things. The devil still wants this yearly cycle of mass killing to continue.
Four people could have died in Owerri if it weren’t for God. In Asaba, the figure was exactly the same last year. Please let all actors and Nollywood to get ready for Pastor Jerry Eze’s prayer outing this year.
According to the DAILY POST, this occurs precisely one year after three other crew members and well-known actor Junior Pope perished in Asaba, Delta State, while filming the movie “The Other Side of Life.”
Since Junior Pope was not a dues-paying member, the AGN declared after the terrible event that it was not possible to prosecute Actress Adanma Luke, the producer of the doomed movie.
