Argentina’s Sebastian Baez was defeated in straight sets by British No. 2 Cameron Norrie to start his Paris Masters campaign. With the indoor conditions, Norrie was the clear favorite going into the match. In an hour and twenty-four minutes, he won 6-3 6-4. The 30-year-old will now play world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated him in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, in the second round after closing off the match by taking a 40-0 lead before his opponent scored on match point.
