Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been picked by Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella as the player who should take home this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Cucurella said the 18-year-old had a fantastic year and should be awarded the coveted top individual medal.
Both Cucurella and Yamal represent Spain as international teammates.
Lamine Yamal had a great year and he deserves the Ballon d’Or,” Cucurella was quoted by TouchlineX as saying.
“Even if he doesn’t win, he’s still very young.”
Yamal is already among the leading candidates for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The winner for this year’s Ballon d’Or will be announced later this month in Paris
