The veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has refuted rumors that he is not as well-liked as his estranged wife Ireti Doyle.
He claimed that because he is more well-liked, his ex-wife chose to keep his last name following their divorce.
He claimed that he rose to fame at the age of sixteen, much before his ex-wife did.
The actor emphasized in a recent interview with The Muvmnt Studio that he has strong credentials and that no one, including his ex-wife, can ever define him.
The host asked: “Your ex-wife is more popular than you are, how do you feel about that?”
Doyle replied: “I have been popular since I was 16. How long has she been around? I have been around for 45 years and I’m still around. I was a superstar at the age of 16; a champion debater. I debated against Yemi Osinbajo.
She will never be able to define me. My body of work is too substantial to be characterized by any living or deceased person. Why is Doyle a well-known name? At the end of the marriage, why didn’t she go back and alter her name?
After losing his first wife to sickle cell anemia in 1999, Dolyle wed Iretiola Doyle. In 2023, the pair formally announced their divorce.
