Borno: NSCDC and Army promise closer cooperation against Boko Haram

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, or NSCDC, and the Nigerian Army have decided to strengthen their cooperation in the battle against the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.

While welcoming Mohammed Hassan Agalama, the new Borno NSCDC Commandant, to the Division’s headquarters in Maiduguri on Thursday, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, made the commitment.

In order to protect people and property in insurgent-affected communities, Unachukwu stated that the military and the NSCDC would continue to collaborate on joint training and operations.

“We will keep expanding the partnership, especially in training, joint operations, and operational response when necessary,” he said.

Agalama, who recently took over as the 12th NSCDC Commandant in Borno, stated in his remarks that the goal of his visit was to improve interagency cooperation in tackling security issues.

“Our function enhances the Army and other security organizations, especially in emergency response and community protection,” he stated.
