Coppa Italia: Inter’s hopes of winning the treble are dashed by AC Milan

Inter Milan lost to AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Wednesday night, ending their hopes of finishing the season with a treble.

The contest had finished in a 1-1 draw after the first leg.

To go to the final, the Rossoneri defeated their local rivals 3-0 in the second leg.

Milan dominated the match at the San Siro thanks to two goals from Luka Jovic in the 36th and 50th minutes.

Tijani Reijnders, a midfielder, won in the 85th minute to guarantee a spot in the final, where they will face the victor of Bologna vs. Empoli.

Milan last won the Coppa Italia during the 2002–03 campaign. Nevertheless, they lost to Juventus 4-0 in their most recent final appearance in 2018.

Inter will now focus on a first-leg matchup against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.

Additionally, Simone Inzaghi’s team leads the Serie A standings.
