Former Kaduna State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Mark Jacobs, has said that the suspended Kogi Central lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, should be allowed to resume in the Senate after her suspension.
BASEMEDIA recalls that the Senate on Tuesday acknowledged the legislator’s notice, informing the upper chamber of her intention to resume after the expiration of her six-month suspension.
However, the red chamber stated that her case could not be heard until the court ruled on it.
In response, Jacobs stated in an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Wednesday that Natasha can return to the National Assembly without a court case being concluded.
“What I see is just another outrageous demonstration of impunity. “The Senate has consistently maintained that no one, not even the courts, should impede its constitutional authority to punish members,” he said.
Remember how Natasha was suspended in March for breaking Senate rules?After that, in July, she attempted in vain to resume sitting and contested the issue in court.
