In order to support and defend Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s recent request to be transferred from the Department of the State Service’s custody to the National Hospital in Abuja, the DSS has refuted the Biafra nation agitator’s deteriorating health claims.
While criticizing the claims, the security agency contended that Kanu’s medical consultant’s health issue was inflated and made in bad faith to mislead the public with false health narrative challenges.Opposing Kanu’s request to be transferred to the Abuja hospital, DSS claimed in a 37-paragraph counter-affidavit that it has one of the best medical facilities in the nation with competent staff who can manage the health concerns of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, or (IPOB).
According to the counter-affidavit submitted by Dr. Mohammed Nasir, a DSS medical officer, Kanu is extremely comfortable in its care, safe, and secure, and he is able to eat the meals he wants when he requests them.
In order to provide Kanu with medical care, the agency claimed that a number of medical specialists from the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and the National Hospital were brought in at his request.
The Biafra nation agitator’s health is stable, according to DSS, which rejected reports that his illness was getting worse.
The counter-affidavit states that Dr. Onye Achillihu, a consultant with Heartland Cardiovascular Consultants Limited, was hired in July 2021 to treat Kanu.
The exclusion of its Medical Officers, who have been treating Kanu without any problems, raises questions about the report’s credibility and good faith, DSS said, expressing shock at how Prof. Martin Aghaji, a retired professor from the University of Nigeria, Nsuka, Enugu, caused his illness to worsen.
DSS recalled that Kanu had five years of hypertension, hypertensive heart disease, low serum potassium levels, and frequent nosebleeds when he was taken into its custody in 2021.
