Due to claims of partiality and exclusion in political appointments, a faction within the All Progressives Congress, or APC, in Edo State’s Oredo Local Government Area has called for the resignation of Lawrence Okah, the party’s state secretary.
Operating under the name Concerned APC Members in Oredo, the group charged Okah with excluding the other 11 council wards by allegedly concentrating the majority of political appointments and positions in his Ward 7.
Osamuyi Osadiaye, the group’s coordinator, told reporters in Benin City on Monday that Okah had abused his power to guarantee that important posts in the party and government were given to his ward at an excessive rate.
Other wards in the Oredo Local Government Area are severely underrepresented as a result of Lawrence Okah’s concentration of important appointments in Ward 7. Such behavior goes against the APC’s philosophy and spirit, which is based on inclusivity and justice, Osadiaye stated.
The local government party chairman, assistant treasurer, member of the Edo State House of Assembly, representative in the Oil and Gas Commission, and two special assistants to the Speaker of the House of Assembly were among the positions he said were influenced by the APC secretary to his ward.

Osadiaye urged APC leaders across Edo State to intervene and restore balance in the party’s structure within Oredo. Additionally, he urged Governor Monday Okpebholo to guarantee equity in any future political appointments, especially in light of the approaching elections for local government.
