EFCC discloses the terms for VDM’s liberation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has verified that social media activist Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be released upon fulfilling his bail conditions.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, told BBC News Pidgin on Monday, “We will release him if he meets his bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible.”

He stated that VDM’s arrest was a result of several petitions from different people claiming misconduct.

„Wir haben ihn festgenommen, um auf eine Reihe von Vorwürfen zu reagieren, die einige Antragsteller gegen ihn erhoben haben“, sagte er.

The arrest of VDM by EFCC operatives in Abuja has sparked a significant online backlash, with numerous accusations directed at the commission for allegedly conducting a crackdown on dissent.

As reported by , a group of young people marched through Abuja on Monday to call for his swift release.
