The Christian Association of Nigeria, or CAN, has called on the nation’s political leaders to give the people more attention.
In its heartfelt greetings to Muslims nationwide as they celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), CAN said this.
Eid-ul-Maulud, according to CAN, provides all Nigerians with an opportunity to consider the virtues that the Prophet embodied, including justice, humility, compassion, and devotion to God. It stated that these principles cut across religious lines and guide us in creating a society based on justice, peace, and respect for one another.
We are reminded as our country commemorates this event that Nigeria is at a pivotal juncture. Economic hardship, governance difficulties, and the strong desire for trustworthy leadership necessitate a renewed dedication to values that uphold justice, responsibility, and compassion.
Therefore, we implore political leaders at all levels to use this solemn season to embrace justice in their choices, lessen the hardships that citizens face, and promote policies that uphold the dignity of every Nigerian and strengthen unity. If our country is to realize its potential for peace and prosperity, leadership must be guided by integrity and fairness.
“I extend warm wishes to all Muslims for a peaceful and joyous celebration on behalf of the Christian community,” said Archbishop Daniel Okoh, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, in a statement released on Friday.
“May this Eid-ul-Maulud strengthen ties of unity among all religions, revitalize our common hope for Nigeria, and inspire us all to collaborate for a prosperous and just country.”
