John Mikel Obi, a hero of Chelsea, is hopeful that the Blues will secure a summer signing of his fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen.
Last summer, Osimhen was on the verge of transferring from Napoli to the West London club, but the deal collapsed because of his salary expectations.
Once more, the 26-year-old has been associated with a transfer to Chelsea, who are anticipated to acquire a new striker this summer.
Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the player, while a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia has not been ruled out.
Mikel is however eager to see Osimhen play for his former club.
“He (Osimhen) wants to play for Chelsea. I hope he’ll be playing his football next season somewhere in the Premier League. I hope he comes,” the former midfielder said on punditry duties with Bein Sports.
“I know where we stopped with the contract. I know where we are. It’s an easy fix because we’ve done all the hard work last summer.”
