EPL: Oliver Glasner discloses Arsenal player that Crystal Palace aimed for in 2-2 tie

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, disclosed that his players aimed to exploit David Raya’s positioning during their 2-2 Premier League draw against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Goals from Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard, Eberechi Eze, and Jean-Philippe Mateta guaranteed that both teams earned a point at the Emirates Stadium.

In the 83rd minute of the match, Arsenal defender William Saliba committed a turnover in the lead-up to Mateta’s goal. However, the Palace striker still had to make an excellent chip shot to score against Raya, who was out of position.

As a result of Arsenal’s draw with Palace, Liverpool will be named Premier League champions if they obtain a minimum of one point in their match against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

In his post-match comments, Glasner disclosed that during their pre-game preparations for the match against Mikel Arteta’s team, he pointed out to his Crystal Palace players that Raya has a tendency to venture far from his line.

„Wir haben den Spielern gestern bei der Vorbereitung des Gegners demonstriert, dass David Raya hoch [von seiner Linie] ist“, sagte Glasner.

“We encountered this situation for the third time [in the match] – during the first instance, Justin Devenny didn’t recognise it, so we overlooked it

“Adam Wharton had the kick in the first half where he hit Thomas Partey and this would have been quite dangerous. “And then we received the third chance, and JP [Mateta] executed this incredible finish,” he said.
