Rene Meulensteen, a former Manchester United assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson, has praised two Red Devils players after the team’s victory over Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday.
After blowing a 2-0 lead in the first half, Man United were destined for a humiliating Europa League defeat at Old Trafford.
The hosts trailed 10-man Lyon 4-2 during the encounter in England. But United scored three goals in the final seven minutes of extra-time to qualify for the semi-finals on a 7-6 aggregate win. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Meulensteen gave credit to Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo for their ‘amazing’ goals against the French Ligue 1 side.
