Experts and stakeholders claim that the increase in damage to telecom infrastructures—more than 1,100 cases are reported each week, according to a report by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)—is the cause of the network outages that are occurring in some regions of the nation. With MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and other telecom companies reporting an average of 1,100 fiber outages each week, the Nigerian Communications Commission has voiced serious concerns about the growing harm to the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
