According to the federal government, the 2024 Budget Performance Report will be released by the end of September 2025.
Consolidated reports for the first and second quarters of 2025 would be included with this.
In a statement released over the weekend in Abuja by the Director General, Tanimu Yakubu, the Budget Office of the Federation (BoF) clarified that the two main reasons for the postponement of the Budget Implementation Reports (BIRs) were the adoption of an extended fiscal framework and verification and reconciliation procedures.
The BoF claims that because of the size and national distribution of the appropriated projects, the verification and reconciliation process took longer than expected.It was mentioned that the reports are more than just financial summaries; they also include physical project verification and expenditure data, which required lengthy fieldwork and reconciliations with implementing agencies.
According to the statement, the shift to a longer fiscal framework was the second driver.
