Five affiliate union presidents are questioned by NLC regarding the Edo secretariat’s ongoing locking.

The Nigeria Labour Congress’s (NLC) Edo State chapter is currently experiencing a crisis that has taken on a new dimension after the union’s national leadership questioned the presidents of five affiliates regarding the alleged ongoing locking of the State’s union secretariat.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, MHWUN, and the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) are the five affiliates, according to BASEMEDIA.

Other organizations include the National Union of Public Service Reportorial And Secretarial Workers of Nigeria (NUPSRAW) and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Technical And Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).

NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, General Secretary Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, and Treasurer Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji signed the September 2, 2025, query.

“Act of gross misconduct, betrayal, and urgent demand for disciplinary action against your errant officer in Edo State” was the title of the letters.

According to the identically worded query letters, the affiliate body’s state chairmen conspired with others to seize control of the state Secretariat of Congress.
