according to the DAILY POST, udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has received a two-month suspension for illegal betting in Italy.
The fear was that, if found guilty of sporting fraud, Okoye would face a four-year suspension
However, the authorities chose to convict the Nigeria international on a lesser charge of illegal betting.
It was alleged that Okoye was intentionally booked during Udinese’s Serie A match against Lazio on March 11, 2024.
In the 64th minute of the match, the 25-year-old was shown a yellow card for wasting time.
Okoye will be absent for one Coppa Italia match and seven Serie A matches.
His availability for selection will resume on October 19.
