Security forces in Zamfara State have arrested an armed bandit following a fierce shootout in Tsafe Local Government Area. According to counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, the confrontation occurred on Sunday afternoon, December 21, along the Tsafe–Yanwaren Daji road.
The incident began when a group of bandits blocked the feeder road, halting the movement of motorists. A security patrol team arrived at the scene and engaged the criminals in a gun battle, eventually forcing them to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds.
During the skirmish, one of the suspects—identified as Umar Alhaji Buhari, also known as Bingel—was apprehended. Following the encounter, security forces cleared the road, allowing normal traffic to resume. The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Gusau for further interrogation and processing.
