The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Command, has advised drivers to slow down during the new September “ember months” in order to prevent needless collisions that cause property damage and fatalities. Speed is sweet, but it kills more quickly than the world’s deadly diseases, according to Nasir Mohammed, the FRSC Commander in charge of the Sagamu-Ore-Benin Expressway.
Mohammed also advised drivers not to drive too fast, as this could result in fatal collisions, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
In order to avoid preventable collisions during the winter months and other times in the future, he advised drivers to follow the posted speed limit and obey traffic signs.
Additionally, he cautioned against driving carelessly, traveling at night, and improperly passing other cars, all of which can be risky and result in collisions.
The route commander emphasized the need for drivers to abstain from drunk driving, stating that it may impair their judgment and that such behavior leads to traffic accidents.He reaffirmed the FRSC’s resolve to launch vigorous public education campaigns and patrols to inform the public about the risks of breaking traffic laws and regulations, which have resulted in numerous premature deaths.
