Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated his confidence that the ruling party will win the two House of Representatives seats, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the lone Senate seat, which is currently held by Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party.
This was said by Ganduje on Thursday in Abuja as he welcomed a large contingent of opposition PDP defectors.
He said that the political landscape had shifted and that the APC now controlled more than 60% of the FCT, ensuring a decisive win in 2027.
Christopher Maikalangu, the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, led the group of defectors.
At a “Unity Rally” on Thursday in Abuja, Ganduje and Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed them.
Ganduje told the gathering that the APC would produce two members of the House of Representatives and the FCT’s sole senator as a result of Thursday’s political shift.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have begun to see that FCT will be converted to the APC as part of that Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added. The Chairman of AMAC, the most well-liked local government in the Federal Capital Territory, is a huge political figure today.
“The chairman has chosen to join our fantastic party, the APC, together with all of his elected council members, appointees, and PDP politicians. He has thousands of supporters with him.
We also have Bwari Area Council decampees. There are decampees from the Kwali Area Council, the Gwagwala Area Council, the Abaji Area Council, and the Kuje Area Council. More than 60% of the Federal Capital Territory is now APC, as are nearly all legislators and citizens.
