Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo stated that Christians are killing each other in the Southeast . He stressed that this violence is not religiously motivated. Soludo’s comments were a reaction to President Donald Trump designating Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern and threatening military action against Northern Islamic terrorists. Speaking in a media chat, Soludo called for deeper conversation and introspection, noting the perpetrators in the Southeast bear Christian names, proving the issue is non-religious. Soludo expressed confidence that the Nigerian government will respond effectively. He acknowledged America’s right to its own views but insisted its actions must follow international law. He reiterated that in the Southeast, which is 95 percent Christian, the killers are named Emmanuel, Peter, and John, and they have “maimed and killed thousands of our youths,” concluding the conflict is “wider than the categorization of Christians and Muslims.” He is confident that Nigeria will prevail through dialogue.
