During the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, a female pilgrim who demonstrated integrity by giving back $5,000 to its owner was honored by Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Earlier this year, the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board made headlines for the female pilgrim, Hajiya Zainab Idris, for what it called her extraordinary act of integrity and honesty during the spiritual exercise.
Hajiya Idris discovered the aforementioned sum of money that the owner had misplaced, but rather than keeping it for herself, she contacted representatives of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who quickly located the owner and gave the money back.
Gov. Mutfwang, who personally gave Hajiya Idris N1 million, expressed his delight in her honesty and the honor she brought to the state while hosting her and Pilgrim Board members at Government House in Jos.
Mutfwang encouraged Plateau natives and all Nigerians to be excellent ambassadors both domestically and overseas, and he commended Hajiya Idris for providing a “shining example of integrity.”
