Cross River native Miracle Usani, a member of the 2025 WAFCON-winning Super Falcons, was beaming yesterday as the State’s governor, Bassey Otu, gave her a parcel of land and N50 million. She was named the state’s Sports Ambassador in addition to receiving a N50 million cash incentive and a piece of land in Calabar.Governor Otu said the gift was in celebration of her exceptional performance on the continental scene and her inspiring commitment to women’s football and national pride Having you here today makes us very happy. Your spirit and perseverance have amazed me. You are now more than just a well-known figure worldwide; you are a source of pride for Nigeria, Cross River, and Africa. “We have decided to give you 50 million plus a piece of land in Calabar. Your name has been added to our VVIP protocol list. Whenever we have formal state events, you’ll be partof us as our Sports Ambassador,” said Otu. Usani, who performs for Edo Queens, responded by saying that her state’s enthusiasm and recognition had inspiredto do more for her. “It wasn’t an easy journey. I was informed as a child that females who play football turn into men and won’t marry. “I played football alongside guys because there was no women’s team at Uke, where I grew up. I was determined, even though it wasn’t easy. I’m honored to represent Cross River and Nigeria at the highest level today,” she remarked. To God, her parents, and the people of Cross River State, Usani thus dedicated her success.
