Ifedayo Olarinde, well known by his stage as Daddy Freeze, has disclosed that he was threatened with death years ago for his criticism of Christian clerics in Nigeria.
Daddy Freeze, who co-hosts The Honest Bunch podcast in place of comedian Nedu, stated in a recent episode that his family members were also threatened with death.
He added that his vocal condemnation of Nigerian pastors gave others the confidence to hold clerics nationwide accountable.
He said, “After my divorce, my pastor tried to reconcile me and my ex-wife but I told him I wasn’t interested. So, I was excommunicated from serving in church events or sitting in the front row. I felt rejected because Jesus never condemned the woman who had been married five times and was living with a sixth man whom she wasn’t married to. I only had one divorce and my church is treating me as if I committed murder.
I therefore quit attending church and began reading the Bible in its original languages. I began reading the scriptures more and more thoroughly. No Nigerian preacher would make sense to you if you were to undertake that labor for a year. It isn’t feasible.
“I am the only person who has ever been persecuted by Nigerian pastors and their henchmen. They made disparaging remarks about me. My family members received death threats against me. Ten years have passed since then. And the reason people are standing up to the church now is because of the work I accomplished.
