Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma has authorized a new N104,000 minimum wage for the state’s civil servants.
This was disclosed by Uzodimma on Tuesday evening at the Government House in Owerri during a meeting with representatives of several labor unions.
The N76,000 minimum wage was raised to N104,000 instead.
Doctors’ minimum wages were also raised from N215,000 to N503,000, and tertiary institution teachers’ minimum wages were raised from N119,000 to N222,000, among other increases.
He claimed that since his government came to power, Imo residents had had to deal with a number of issues, such as insecurity, the COVID-19 pandemic, the negative economic effects of reform measures, and disagreements over the elimination of subsidies and the minimum wage.
“As a government, we made a constant effort to remember that no government can succeed if it does not have a cordial and friendly relationship with organized labor.
Families are happier, productivity increases, and the local economy expands when workers receive fair compensation.
“We are investing in Imo people in this way. He stated, “The government believes in promoting economic and political activity, escorting bureaucrats along, and ensuring that workers’ welfare is highly respected.”
The state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) increased from N400 million to more than N3 billion per month, according to Uzodimma.
