In Akwa-Ibom, police report 74 rescues and 33 convictions.

Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner Baba Azare announced that the command secured 33 convictions from 563 prosecutions for various crimes over the past year. During a press briefing in Uyo, Azare detailed the command’s successes, which included rescuing 74 human trafficking victims and 10 kidnapped individuals, as well as recovering 179 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. He described the state’s security climate as stable and peaceful, attributing these results to intelligence-driven policing and effective collaboration with other agencies. Looking ahead to the festive season, the Commissioner assured the public of increased patrols and strategic security deployments to protect lives and property. He also outlined goals for 2026, including a continued crackdown on violent crime and cultism, alongside new initiatives to combat cybercrime and misinformation. Azare concluded by thanking the Inspector-General of Police and the state government for their support while urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to the authorities.
