According to the Halal Certification Authority (HCA), in its eight years of existence, it has certified more than 300 goods and more than 100 businesses throughout Nigeria. Nigeria does not currently have a government-recognized regulatory organization that expressly oversees the Halal industry, according to Professor Ibrahim Oreagba, Chairman of the Halal Certification Authority (HCA), who made this statement during a community engagement event organized by the HCAHowever, he pointed out that a number of state- and privately-recognized Halal certification organizations, such as HCA, are actively attempting to close the regulatory gap. HCA is currently Nigeria’s top Halal certifying organization. We are requesting recognition from JAKIM, the Halal regulatory agency in Malaysia, as there is currently no government-established regulatory body for Halal,” he stated, emphasizing that “having a national regulatory authority will make our work lot easier and more standardised.” Oreagba disclosed that in its eight years of existence, HCA has certified more than 300 goods and more than 100 businesses around Nigeria.
