The Labour Party (LP) structures in Kaduna State’s Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas (LGAs) have merged into the Young Progressives Party (YPP). This Sunday event saw all LP executive members, from ward to LGA level, resign their membership. YPP officials, including National Organizing Secretary Hon. Williams Moses and State Chairman Mall. Mikailu Abubakar, praised the LP’s decision as a moment of hope for the state. Moses attributed the move to the decampees’ genuine desire to serve their people better through the YPP. He encouraged Kaduna residents to choose the YPP as a credible alternative that promises unity, service, and accountability. Speaking for the decampees, former Chikun LP Chairman Hon. Yerima Ahmed declared Chikun the “Centre of Politics” and stated they joined the YPP because it believes in Nigerian unity and accountability. Ahmed clarified their resignation was personal, not due to crisis, but because “the YPP represents new life.” He added that the YPP’s vision of equity, unity, and progress is what convinced all LP executives to align with it.
