Over 1,000 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State. The news came from a Sunday statement by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin. The defectors were formally received at the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano. They cited the “numerous interventions” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Jibrin as their reason. The defectors’ leader, Aminu Minjibir, stated they contributed significantly to the Kwankwasiyya Movement but were dissatisfied with the NNPP’s failure to address Kano residents’ needs, asserting the party “failed to deliver meaningful change.” Senator Jibrin accepted them, calling their move a “wise decision.” He affirmed the APC is Africa’s largest party, focused on improving Nigerian lives, and urged others to join for the state and country’s advancement.
