Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered a big amount of tramadol pills worth ₦3,500,000.00 in an attempt to curtail substance misuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.
According to a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abubakar Sadiq made available to newsmen on Thursday, the successful arrest was based on solid intelligence.
Based on reliable information, command personnel located and detained a 27-year-old man named Murtala Salisu of Bare-bari village, Safana LG, Katsina State, on March 20, 2025, at approximately 1600 hours, who was found in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.The defendant admitted under questioning that he obtained the illegal substances from a man named Rabe, m. (not real name) in Nassarawa State.
He also identified his accomplice as Tanimu Abubakar, m., of Jibia LGA, Katsina State. Both suspects admitted to committing the crime after being taken into custody. Investigation is underway.
Bello Shehu, Commissioner of Police at Katsina State Command, reiterated the command’s dedication to combating drug misuse, illegal drug trafficking, and other drug-related offenses while maintaining the safety and security of the state’s law-abiding citizens.
In order to help combat all types of crime and criminality in the state, he also asked the people to keep providing the command with timely and useful information, according to the statement.
