Troops from the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army in Lokoja rescued two kidnapping victims (one male, one female) and recovered a N3.8 million ransom intended for their release. Brigade Spokesperson Lt. Hassan Abdullahi issued the statement on Monday. The rescue occurred Sunday in Achigili Forest along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule road, executed by troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Oguma. Acting on intelligence about kidnapping in the area and relatives attempting a ransom drop on November 2, the troops projected a patrol into Achigili Forest. The criminals ambushed the troops, initiating a firefight. The soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the bandits to abandon the two victims and the ransom money before fleeing into the forest with gunshot wounds. The victims were debriefed, the N3.8 million was returned to them, and they are now in safe custody awaiting handover to proper authorities. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting life and property and urged the public to provide timely, credible information to assist security operations against criminals in the state.
