Nigeria will compete in the 2025 World Sambo Championships for the second time from November 7 to November 9 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It is the premier international competition for Sport Sambo, Combat Sambo, and Blind Sambo and is organized by the Fédération Internationale de Sambo. Fatai Balogun, Samuel Kekere, and Sodiq Ajibade will represent Nigeria in the Blind Sambo and Combat divisions.Balogun will compete in the Combat Sambo for men, weighing 88 kg. Kekere will compete in the men’s 64kg division. He is the first African to compete in Blind Sambo. Ajibade is aiming for a podium finish for Nigeria in the men’s 98kg Blind Sambo, where he will make his debut. Kekere was thrilled to make his second appearance, thanking Sheriff Hammed for facilitating the team’s participation and complimenting FIAS. Elite sambists from around the world will compete in the Sport Sambo, Combat Sambo, and Blind Sambo divisions at this year’s championships. All events will receive the same $341,000 prize cash. Medal winners receive $4,000, $3,000 for silver, and $2,000 for bronze.Combat Sambo will be held without repechage rounds, whilst Sport Sambo will employ group stages with repechage.
