In the Mahanga hamlet in the Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, a destructive windstorm on Friday night damaged no fewer than fifty dwellings.
James Arthur, a community leader, told reporters this on Saturday in the state capital of Lafia.
He urged Abdullahi Sule, the state governor, the chairman of the local government, and other key figures to act quickly to save the town.
“We, the people of Mahanga community in Nasarawa State’s Awe Local Government Area, are writing to draw your attention to the terrible effects of the strong windstorm that struck our community yesterday.
Many of us are in desperate need of help because the windstorm damaged our houses, schools, and infrastructure.
“We respectfully request that the public and the government offer immediate aid so that we can recover from this catastrophe.
He stated, “Your prompt action would be greatly appreciated in providing our community with support, shelter, and relief materials.”
“The strong windstorm affected over 50 houses, with many houses having their roofs removed and others collapsing, leaving many households stranded,” the community leader continued.
