Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have intercepted a major consignment of supplies intended for terrorists in Yobe State.
According to a statement from the Theatre Command on Thursday, the operation took place on September 16 during counter-terrorism missions under *Operation Desert Sanity IV*. Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers stopped a red 14-tyre trailer carrying suspicious cargo along the Nguru–Gashua road at about 7:40 a.m.
The vehicle was moved to a secure location and offloaded later that evening. By 9:00 p.m., troops discovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer—commonly used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs)—alongside 27 cartons of assorted drugs and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all concealed beneath bundles of fabrics.
Investigations revealed that the shipment was intended for Niger Republic, pointing to a cross-border supply chain feeding terrorist groups.
Earlier that same day, around 10:30 a.m., troops on the same route had intercepted two Sharon buses and another trailer loaded with fabric and solar panels. Intelligence indicated the materials were to be used for sewing uniforms for insurgent fighters.
“All drivers, motor boys, and the recovered items are in custody pending further investigation and the arrest of identified consignees and consignors,” the statement confirmed.
The Theatre Command assured Nigerians that troops remain vigilant to cut off terrorist logistics networks and encouraged communities to keep providing useful intelligence.
The Military High Command praised the troops for their “impressive operational performance” in disrupting the supply chain sustaining insurgents.
