In order to address the ongoing security issues in the region, the Kontagora Emirate Council in Niger State has decided to call an emergency stakeholders forum.
Abdulamlik Sarkindaji, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, called the summit, which is anticipated to produce practical answers to the banditry attacks on different villages in all of the Emirate’s local governments, including Mariga, Magama, Rijau, Wushishi, and Mashegun.
People’s lives have been rendered unpleasant by the regular attacks by shooters who are thought to be herdsmen, particularly farmers who were compelled to leave their land and ancestral houses.
Twenty soldiers were killed in recent armed bandit raids on two military installations in Mariga LGA, Gulbin Boka and Kwanan Dutse.
The Speaker said in a statement on Wednesday that the security summit was now required since all of the traditional methods of tackling the Emirate’s security issues are failing to provide the desired outcomes.
In order for our people, particularly farmers, to experience some degree of tranquility, he clarified, “this situation must be confronted.” The honorable sons and daughters of Kontagora Emirate cannot stand by and watch as these creatures, posing as people, murder our citizens, our security personnel, and deprive the entire populace of purpose in life.
Sarkindaji stated that the gathering, which is set for Saturday, July 5th at the Palace of the Emir of Kontagora, will provide a forum for individuals to gather, exchange ideas, and work together on tactics to address the security issues.
The statement recognized the state government’s efforts to address the issue, citing several tactics that Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago has implemented over the past two years.
The speaker also revealed that all current and previous members of the State House of Assembly, all former and current senators, and all members of the House of Representatives will be present at the summit.
