Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been encouraged by the People’s Democratic Party’s Ondo State branch to fulfill his responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the state’s citizens.
This was said in a statement released in Akure on Tuesday by Mr. Leye Igbabo, the party’s state director of media and publicity.
According to Igbabo, the party was concerned about the alleged ongoing murders of innocent state citizens by gunmen.
According to him, the victims of these murders were lawfully carrying out their regular tasks, which were necessary to provide food for their meals.
In all honesty, the party is unable to identify any explanation for why such attackers might function for months on end in a state with a supposedly legitimate administration without encountering any opposition.
Because he is no longer able to ensure and defend the lives and property of Ondo State residents, Governor Aiyedatiwa has in fact failed in his constitutional responsibility as stated in Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“It is heartbreaking to see that approximately fifty people have been brutally murdered in different communities throughout the state in less than a month,” he said.
Igbabo voiced his worry that following these instances, no one has been arrested or charged.
He claimed that in light of what he called “unprovoked and unrestrained killings,” the party had been questioning if the state still had a government.
According to him, “these killings are one too many and show the helplessness, despair, and extreme compromise of those in the corridor of power in Ondo State.”
Igbabo called on President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action because it seemed that the state government was unable to handle the threat.
