A former member of the Imo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Okigwe Local Government Area, Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, was abducted, and the state government strongly denounced the heinous and illegal act that resulted in his kidnapping.
It said the government had put all the necessary procedures in place to guarantee Ogbu’s safe and timely return, working with the security services.
The government urged politicians, particularly those who have previously fueled the state’s insecurity, to refrain from using Hon. Ogbu’s ordeal as political leverage while these efforts were underway.
Such remarks or acts not only trivialized his suffering but also put his life in jeopardy, according to a statement released by the state government on Sunday through Hon. Declan Emelumba, Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy.
“It is, to put it mildly, utterly unacceptable when a matter involving the life of a husband, father, and fellow citizen is politicized. The Imo State Government will keep up its relentless efforts to keep Imo safe, he said, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the protection of people and property.
