Malam Umar Namadi, the governor of Jigawa State, has instructed the state’s educational system to prioritize rewarding exceptional work while disciplining teachers who fail to fulfill their duties.
Speaking at the State Science and Technical Education Board’s 2025 Best Teachers Award Ceremony, which took place at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall in the State Secretariat in Dutse, Governor Namadi made this announcement.
The Governor emphasized the significance of honoring and celebrating teaching excellence, calling the award ceremony one of the most influential events in the state’s educational system.Alongside our larger efforts to support high-quality teaching and learning in our schools, this is one of the best initiatives. “Those who perform well must be recognized and rewarded, while those who perform poorly must be punished,” the governor said.
He encouraged other educational organizations, such as the Islamic Education Bureau and the Senior Secondary School Management Board, to adopt comparable incentive programs in order to inspire educators in all fields.
The Governor reiterated that attaining quality education requires excellent teaching and praised the Science and Technical Schools Board for hosting the 2025 Best Teacher Award.He also underlined that without qualified and driven teachers, infrastructure alone cannot propel educational advancement.
In order to lower the student-teacher ratio in our schools, we have started hiring teachers at all levels. Additionally, we are making large investments in teacher training and retraining because the education sector is always coming up with new ideas and innovations,” he said.
Governor Namadi pledged to maintain government support for the education sector by making consistent investments in infrastructure and human capital.
